Scanning, Nemisis, Shit-Keeping
Mornin', Mornin'!
I ain't as cheery as above advertised but i sure do feel a whole lot better than i did in my last rantin' post.
*and no, i don't know why i'm feeling very Southern either..*
Anyways..
Wednesday was a combination day (much like your T-zone), and had a few exciting happenings.
1- i started scanning documents from 1911, wearing gloves and nothing else (... wait, i mean, and no goggles or face mask). Not only did i not have the recommended protective gear (a chemisty chick was hospitalized in the intensive care unit for 11 days becuase of that), i also had to do it on this dinky laptop. Important documents on an employee's laptop. *sigh* About 20 documents in (scanning takes time, yo), the Chemistry Guy comes in saying that he found a place that will not only disinfect the papers, but will also scan then, put then "in digital", and wrap them for us. Basically, what we should have done but outsourced. Oh, but the coolest thing about it is that it's a government-contracted outsourcing place. Basically, we don't pay jack (hence making it a whole lot easier for them to do it becuase we don't have the equipment, and won't have to ask for it, and wait for it to be approved).
2- Wednesday also found me unknowingly offering to help my boss's sworn-enemy. My boss was off on site. I am apparently doing him a personal favor by critiquing the KNM archeological find database that is currently under construction. The program-writer and creator of the database is 7amid, who left to persue higher education (thankfully, it's archeologically-related). Therefore, becuase i speaka da engrish, i was thought to have been computer-enough savvy. I am so not. But i do critique well! So i offered to help compare our proposed database with those of international standardized museum databases concerning archeology. What made me laugh is that i had to do this on my personal laptop with my dial-up connection. Databases need downloading and like, researching. There was talk of buying a database custom-made for us, but i really didn't think it would've cost the 5,ooo Euros they thought it did. So i suggested that we take a look at the Dar Al Athaar database, which they are upgrading, networking, and making-perfect. I'm going with arch-nemesis tomorrow (after i made arrangements). I hope my boss doesn't flip. And i really hope he doesn't think i'm leaving his department to this other guys'. I mean, just becuase he asked three times already (in the past 2 weeks) doesn't mean my loyalty's shifted. I hope he takes it well.
3- Nothing else really, but it's always good to go with odd numbers.
And just in case ya'll think i'm still super-frustrated with this place, then you're right. It's just that i'm taking this beauracracy like a little baby kitten that doesn't know what to do with myself. And just becuase it shits everywhere when it's not supposed to, it doesn't mean i don't love it. And if no one is there to stop or clean-up or monitor said shit, then it's just going to pile up and make us all look bad. I am the shit-keeper, if you like.
Right now, though, i'm going to enjoy my sandwhich and my coffee, and maybe do some cramped-space yoga, for i have apparently pulled numerous back muscles from enjoying the sun & sea too much.
:D

This is the best I can do. I HATE WRITING, i wish there was a device that can read your mind and re-arrange and edit it so eloquently. Meanwhile, you're gonna have to deal with this.

It's only because your mind goes a mile a second, mashallah.
That, and you shake your foot all the time, and your fingers can't keep with the beat in your head.
