Corruption

i have the chemistry guy here, who breaks my heart with every 'this is how corrupt the knm and the majlis is' story.

i just called my boss becuase the chemistry guy, nahhar, was the one who told me that our last day was wednesday. had i not shown up today at the knm to sign in before 8am, i would have never known, and i would have been considered as 'absent' (aka: big bad deal).

so i called the admin and he said that he had nothing to do with it.

so i called my boss and he said that he had no idea (liar)
so i called nahhar to my office. asked him to tell me the story.

now, i'm confused with where i'm supposed to be
boss: "leave and come on site now"
me: "how can i leave if i'm supposed to sign out. that'd be me going AWOL"
boss: "the admin isn't the boss of me. come"
me: "seriously? you need to figure this out on your own. i'm not doing anything that isn't official. it's not my responsibility that we weren't asked to come back. oh, and another thing, i never agreed that i would work on site for no money.

That's 400kd that never went into my bank account, becuase my boss decided that he just wanted three other people to be on the official archeology team.

I'm sorry, what?

four people total? 3 archeologists and one to number, clean, bag, archive, and catalogue the artifacts?

Of course Bu a7med asked for nahhar and i. the chemistry guy and his protoge` (moi).

Now, apparently. For the second wave of the season (season one cost 12,550kd, and wasn't enough... remember: the extra bonus comes from the majlis itself, not from this 12,550kd), we're supposed to go in legally (ie: money) and bu a7med's supposed to leave and come in illegally (ie: without the majlis knowing, ie: no money)




i don't understand.
people, i think, are taking me for an idiot becuase i'm asking way too many questions that are obviously answered by 'it's becuase they're corrupt'.

yes, fine.
they're corrupt.
but i've never dealt with corruption.
i don't know how it works.
i don't know how it's accepted by the employees here.

i don't need thier that 400kd.
but you can bet ur ass nahhar does.
and even if he gets about 180kd from that 400kd,
then it's more than he expected to get.



i'm really so very confused about how this corruption works.



now nahhar just walked in saying that we have to go becuase boss man has newspaper dudes on site and that we have to prep these '3umlaat' (currency) that he keeps referring to.

wednesday he said the same thing to a syrian tv crew or something. kept referring to what we had as 'from the farsi and ottoman times'.

W.T.F?!

all i saw were 10 and 20fils.
and the occasional indian rupee or iraqi fils.
