The ones i worked on were all returned from the stolen Iraqi loot (bastards) during the Invasion.
Who steals seals?

(say that five times fast!)

Anywho..

The seals were sent over to bu-a7med so he can make impressions out of them (clay + pressing down = impression). And so when he found these ones in bad condition (and there are thousands of these), i was given the task of cleaning them and making them impression-worthy.

The following will be a discussion on the condition of the seals and the removal of any unnecessary and harmful residue.

So these are the glues that are bonded to the seals.

The scalpel is my choice of tool when i have to just cut off the excess of hard glue. If it doesn't cut easily, then i use alcohol to melt some of the glue.. but you have to be careful...

Sometimes using the alcohol makes the glue melt easily... but what's horrible is when it takes off the cataloge number that the earlier conservators used.. like here: you can see the little piece that fell off contained some of the ink that was used...

And sometimes, you find out that there was a number under all of that glue goop after all, which is like your own uncovering...

So that's it...

I would've added more except this post is like, three weeks in the making and i simply couldn't think of anything else to say.

Oh, and these are the ones that can't be properly stamped (made impressions of) and so i have to like, clean them before i stamp them. (i stamp. bu a7med makes the clay ready for me.)
