8-Hour DVD
The Other Dept Head that isn't my Head came in randomly with a cool-beans geezer.
He asked me to check if the CD that he had was working. After they both realized that i was interested in the CD contents, Dept Head left me with the old dude and we went on & on about this and that.
Remember my old crush? This guy is just slightly younger but i love him just as well.
(He's beyond super-cool, he was wearing cargo pants and a multi-pocket shirt!)
He gave me the CD and told me to keep it. He also said he had some pictures he wanted to give me, which is just fantastical.
The CD is basically, (as it says on the cover):
- an 8-hour film made up of historic and video-documented footage.
- originally, it was shot by mohammed husain qabazard, who gave his footage to KTV.
- KTV ran some montages in segments on 25/2/1986, marking 25 years (it says ''bimunasabat alyobeel alfudhee").
- Some footage is from KOC from 1948/49.
- it's called "alkuwait bayn al ams wa alyoum" (kuwait: from yesterday until today<-- my translation).
The guy that gave it to me happened to be an amatuer historian who collected such things (in fact, he was a major contributor to the Photography Exhibition i had mentioned earlier).
So he basically gave the KNM and the NCCAL copies of the film so that they would at least have an idea that it existed. He has copies of it, but he doesn't own the copyright, and that's why he can't turn it into a film-film.
But KTV has a copy. So that's good.
Except it probably died along with the Invasion.
So now i have a copy and i'm telling you that i have a copy. So that if he dies, and i die, then you know to look for a DVD-RW with Arabic on it.
(randomly, for my family: i also have Mom & Dad's wedding video on DVD).
But super yay-ness over this film, no?
Super yay.
It's an awesome film, and i'm going to watch some more now.
(oh, and ps: it's 10:30 now and the farrash or whatever just walked in saying that the food the girls upstairs ordered is waiting for them at the gate).
