Extra Credit
And so,
A long post,
hopefully making up for the past two days that i didn't have za eenternet.
(although i did post from my cellphone.
I'm all ready for this post, and have my headphones on, with my coffee and water to my left, and my Affogato to my right.
Let's begin then, shan't we?
- I've been surprisingly early for work this past week, which makes it exteremely unusual. And not like, two minutes late, but around ten minutes, which is really wierd. Being that early means one thing: Starbucks.
The way it usually works is this: i slow down once i get to Lorenzo, and stay to the far right lane. Once i take an instant assessment of the parking lot at Starbucks i make my decision.
The break-down usually goes like this:
Anything more than the usual three Lexus's, two Beemers, and a splattering of CLK's, Camry's, and the omnipresent Toureg, and i decide not to go in. Firstly, the choices that people make baffle me. You can always tell the regulars from the (faux)scenesters. My brethren and i have our money ready, and the barista's seem to make our drinks faster. I actually got my Affogato ready for me before i even got to the cashier, becuase i'd been going for like, two weeks with the same request. Make me my Caramel Creme, but wait! Take a lungo shot of espresso and pour it over the caramel web. Watching it go down makes my heart beat faster. Taking the first sip, when the bitterness of the espresso is countered with the suger of the creme, is the absolute reason for my smiling in the morning. Usually followed with a sincere "bless you, kind sir" to the Barista.
Then, it hit me that i've been paying KD1.400 everyday for the past two weeks, sometimes making it double shots, when i thought i wanted it to hold me over for the rest of the day, making it KD1.600. That's KD7 a week, my friends, and that's if i don't get a sandwhich or something. Damn. I need to remember i'm on a government salary :p And, other than the fact that it's monetarily being hard on me, it's also not the most healthy drink. Par example, it's listed here as 25calories, which is impossible, i'd think. But this, which sounds more like what i'm getting, is 280 calories, which is like having a whole pack of rats for breakfast (or something).
So basically, after all is said and done, it comes down to this: i need to be late to work :D
Speaking of!
-Big Boss Man is outta town, baby! For like, a month and a half! Which means that Hani will be sitting at the sign-in desk for 15 or so minutes after 8am, which is unbelievable (homeboy used to have to leave at 7:59:59am). So yes, that will make me very happy. But now that i'm not considering going Starbucks, it's really useless. Like going to Paris without being in love, or something.
And speaking of Paris, (lol), friends and i keep talking about travelling to Dubai (havn't been since '98), and today one of them decided that we need to stop talking and start doing. We are considering travelling tomorrow inshallah. Spur of the moment trips, which are exciting. That would mean taking a 6ibiyya or 6ari'a or something. Which is cool, only really, i feel like i'm going to keep taking days off not realizing that i still have five more months until the end of the year. Crap face :/ You'll find out on Wednesday if i'm here at work or not.
Speaking of (;p).... there's work to be had.
And i shall have it.
I know this post was non-work related, but everything is connected.
Speaking of!
(god, what the hell is up with me saying that all day today?)
Remind me about:
-asthmatic
-cardiatic
-reports
-732
-blondie
-cricket part deux
-3G fun
-laptop panic
and anything else i think i might remember that you should remind me of, yeah?
Danke, friends.
Until a few hours from now,
when i come back with glorious pictures and descriptions and raves,
-me.
:D
