Ooh, Lookey!
Today was the first day that as employees, we would sign in at the new building.
This is the process:
-park car in designated parking spots, which, unless you came in before nine, you would have to fight for with tourists (if we're lucky enough to have them).
-walk for like, 3 or 4 minutes to the previous building, and sign. now, you walk like, one minute and sign.
-then, my department would have to walk another 3 minutes or so to our building. (while the old building was gross, it was still semi-nicer than ours. now, it's like comparing a Lada with a Ferrari).
-That's the process. Now lather, rinse, and repeat.
So while in the new building, i took a peek at the exhibition, and picked up some pamphlets that they thankfully had on hand.
Exhibition Title (translated): Ridha Al-Awadhi's Personal Collection.
I met the old geezer (b. 1937), and was so taken by him that i actually have his number on my cellphone. (well, his two numbers. he carried two phones with him. we still can't figure out why though).
He's an amazing man with a memory that makes you want to remember to hate yourself later, and speaks a multitude of languages (i remember him saying he spoke farsi to his parents, afghani to someone else, and bengali-was it?- to his housekeeper. oh, and arabic obviously. and a little bit of english. and i honestly don't know why i keep thinking that he speaks german.).
So yes, amazing man. Beautiful beady blue eyes and wisps of facial hair. I actually told him i wanted to work on his autobiography with him. He laughed, said no one was interested. I told him he's an amazing man with the memory of an elephant (more on Purple Elephant later..). Plus, he can hook you up with whatever photographs/first editions/artifacts you want, and even Big Boss Man consults him from time to time.
So, come to the exhibition. Find him. Ask him anything.
If not for him, then for the building, which only took like TEN YEARS!
And we're still in here. All ten of us (or something), huddling for heat, taking turns drinking from a canister of water, and rationing the bread.
Lol
Until then fellow pirates,
-me.
